January brought a truly special celebration as Chloe and Taewoong tied the knot at the Newgrange Hotel in a heartfelt and personalised celebrant-led wedding ceremony. As their celebrant, it was an honour to help them create a ceremony that reflected their love story, their families, and their cultural backgrounds.

This was very much a destination wedding, with Taewoong and his family travelling from Korea to celebrate in Ireland. The ceremony beautifully blended traditions, family involvement, and meaningful rituals, making it both intimate and memorable.

A key highlight was the handfasting (knot-tying) ceremony, an ancient Celtic tradition where the couple’s hands are bound together using ribbons or cords. This symbolic act represents unity, commitment, and the origin of the phrase “tying the knot”. Chloe and Taewoong embraced this ritual as a powerful expression of their bond.

Family played a central role throughout the ceremony. Taewoong’s father delivered the first reading in Korean, adding a deeply personal and cultural touch. Chloe’s mother followed with a second reading, while both families contributed to the bidding prayers—featuring the groom’s mother, the bride’s grandmother, sister, and the best man. This collective involvement created a warm and inclusive atmosphere.

The couple also included a unity candle ceremony, where they lit a central candle together to symbolise two lives becoming one, as well as the joining of their families. Alongside this, a remembrance candle was lit in honour of Chloe’s grandfather and Taewoong’s grandparents, ensuring their presence was felt on the day.

Adding even more personality, Chloe and Taewoong wrote their own vows and shared their unique love story, making the ceremony truly their own.

This was a perfect example of a modern celebrant wedding—personal, meaningful, and tailored entirely to the couple.
