I’m Stephen Brady, a fully registered Wedding Celebrant (Solemniser), and I’m legally authorised to marry couples in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland — covering Cavan, Meath and surrounding counties of our beautiful island of Ireland.
Whether you’re planning a destination wedding in Ireland, an intimate elopement, or a large celebration, I offer both bespoke ceremonies and legal solemnising, ensuring your special day is not only heartfelt and personal, but also fully recognised by law.

Getting Married Legally in Ireland
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
To marry legally in Ireland, both parties must give notice of their intent to marry at a Civil Registration Service. You are required to:
- Schedule a marriage notification appointment in the 12 months before your wedding date.
- Provide at least 3 months’ notice to the registrar, ensuring they have enough time to verify that both parties are free to marry.
- Ensure all legal documents are submitted before the ceremony. The registrar will confirm the required
documentation during your appointment.
NORTHERN IRELAND
For legal marriages in Northern Ireland:
- A marriage notice form (known as GRO 446) must be submitted to the district registrar no later than 28 days before your ceremony.
- However, it’s recommended to submit the notice 8 to 10 weeks in advance to ensure all legal checks are completed on time.
- Both parties must provide documents like birth certificates and proof of residence along with the notice.

These readings are a beautiful way to involve loved ones and make your ceremony even more meaningful.
Ceremony Music
Music is a powerful part of any ceremony, setting the mood and bringing emotional depth to key moments.
As your wedding celebrant, I can help you choose up to four songs, which can be played live or pre-recorded. These can range from traditional selections to songs with personal significance for moments like walking down the aisle, unity rituals, or the signing, helping to make the ceremony uniquely yours.
Together, we’ll find the perfect pieces that add to the atmosphere.
Ceremony Enhancements
Consider adding symbolic elements to your ceremony, such as:
MEMORIAL CANDLE
Honoring loved ones who are no longer with us
UNITY CANDLE
Lighting two candles, then a central one after exchanging rings, symbolizing unity.
MIXING OF SANDS
A blend of family or county colors, representing your union and shared future.
HANDFASTING
An ancient ritual of tying hands together, symbolizing “tying the knot.”
RING WARMING
Guests bless or “warm” the rings as a unifying gesture during the ceremony.

Legal Vows
As your wedding celebrant, I guide you through both your personal vows and the legal requirements of your ceremony. Your personal vows are a beautiful moment to share your own promises before moving into the formal, legal wording. I’m here to help you craft vows that feel genuine, meaningful, and true to your relationship.
For your marriage to be legally recognised, the correct documents must be present and signed during the ceremony.
In the Republic of Ireland, this includes the Green Folder (MRF) containing all required paperwork. In Northern Ireland, this involves the Marriage Schedule or marriage certificate.
As your wedding celebrant, I ensure these documents are prepared, understood, and properly completed so your ceremony is both memorable and legally binding.
Signing of the Marriage Documents
As your wedding celebrant, I guide you through the final legal step of your ceremony — the signing of the marriage documents. Once your vows are exchanged, you and your witnesses sign the official paperwork required for your marriage to be legally recognised.
This moment marks the formal beginning of your life together, surrounded by the support of your family and friends. It’s a meaningful part of the ceremony, and I ensure everything is completed clearly and correctly so you can enjoy the moment with confidence.
The Wedding Pronouncement

This is the moment that seals the ceremony and marks you as officially married.
